First off, you can thank me for not titling this article “Something’s Wong in San Francisco.” Too low hanging of a fruit, but seriously, how many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man? Perhaps it was my naïveté that blinded me, but I didn’t think I’d be writing about the Land of Fruits and Nuts so soon after my last article on the alleged “Golden” State. But alas, here I am, once again, to simply ask: what in God’s name is going on in California?
A New Election Commissioner in San Fran
Hong Kong national Wing Kwan “Kelly” Wong, who had come to the US in 2019 for graduate studies, has recently been unanimously appointed by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to serve on the city’s Election Commission. Yes, a foreign national here on a student visa and who cannot vote is now partially in charge of deciding how elections are run in San Francisco. I know you must have many questions, so let me concisely answer them for you here, lightning round style.
Question: Is this legal?
Answer: Yes, in 2020, San Francisco voters, as mentally disabled as they are, passed an amendment to allow non-citizens to serve on city commissions.
Question: Is Wong a Chinese Communist?
Answer: According to Wong herself, she participated in the Umbrella Movement protests in Hong Kong against the Chinese Communist Party. Whether you believe her or not is up to you to decide.
Question: Is Wong here legally?
Answer: Well, she came here legally, but whether she still is remains unknown. She came here on a student visa in 2019, but as of now, it is not public knowledge what type of student visa she came on. It is likely an F-1 Visa, which is good for up to 5 years, and it also requires you to make clear your intention to return to your home country. Given her new role as an election commissioner, it seems she has no intention of returning home. However, she may have begun the application process for becoming a US citizen. Or maybe she didn’t and will simply let her visa expire and stay here as an illegal immigrant. We just don’t know.
So, Who is She?
Now that those questions are (mostly) answered, who is Kelly Wong, really? She currently works for an activist organization called Chinese for Affirmative Action which, if you can believe it, fights for the interests of Chinese-Americans. Yes, she is adamant that foreign nationals in the City of Fog should have just as much say as those who were either born here or who went through the immigration process legally, saying herself that she is “deeply committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of immigration status, has a seat at the table in shaping the future of our city.” Isn’t that sweet?
Now, I’m not saying that she isn’t qualified to hold this position. She has a master’s degree and has worked in political organizations before. What I am saying is that her non-citizen status is what should be a disqualifying factor here. She doesn’t serve America; she doesn’t have any allegiance to this country. Even in her short time here, she has self-admittedly only served the interests of her ethnic group.
What Does the Future Hold for The City by the Bay?
Honestly, I don’t think Wong’s appointment is going to change much for San Fran-shithole itself, seeing as she’s a progressive liberal in a city overrun with them (and feces). Her main goal is pushing for foreign-language, specifically Cantonese and Mandarin (shocking, I know), voting materials in her capacity as a commissioner.
The example she likes to use is that there isn’t an equivalent term to the word “reparations” in Cantonese or Mandarin. Yes, because what America really needs in this moronic reparations debate is for people fresh off the boat to decide if us whiteys have to pay black folks for something the vast majority of our ancestors didn’t personally do. Pardon me for my apparent ignorance, but even if we do humor this nonsensical idea, why should Wei from Wuhan, Manuel from Managua, or Viktor from Volgograd have any damn say, exactly?
Far more concerning is the trend this is a part of, wherein more and more hyper-progressive states and cities are granting non-citizens voting rights. If any Tom, Dick or Harry from anywhere in the world can vote in American local or statewide elections, what’s the point of being an American citizen? If this reaches its natural conclusion of allowing non-citizens to vote in federal elections, then we don’t even have a country anymore. The democracy we keep being told is in grave danger will actually be dead then.
